Blue Dream

TL;DR

YES! 5+/5 overall. This is a must have for all sativa leaning fans or people who just like very strong weed that lasts a long time. Feels dreamy without sedation. One of THE most popular strains from the West coast that caught like wild fire. Pretty sure it’s a quad.

It’s my 3rd favourite strain. From a different site but a similar grade, last time I had rated it 9.9/10 overall, I just couldn’t believe the effect it had on me, it was a game changer. The last time I smelled it I forcefully sneezed like I railed pepper, the kief separates very easily. I snapped a piece of bud and saw kief pieces poof off like it could of made a little cloud in the air.

GENETICS

There’s so much wrong info out there. This may not have been a DJ Shorts’ Blueberry cross, it may have just been a regular “Blueberry”, whatever the difference is. Who knows but I think it’s a DJ Short cross.

Strains closer to being of “landrace” origin are typically stronger than a strain developed from a bunch of genetic crosses as if purity can equal potency. As I understand it “landrace” basically means “wild”, naturally occuring weed.

Blue Dream is a 60% sativa, its parents are Blueberry (80% indica from Purple Thai X Afghani) X Haze (80% sativa, a mix of 4 landrace strains from S.A., Thai, Mexi, S. India). Haze, AKA Santa Cruz Haze, not to be confused with either both popular Silver Haze nor Super Silver Haze. “The strain was recently recreated by DJ Short himself as “Azure Haze,” using a special Silver Haze mother and a Blueberry F4, one generation closer to the mother plant than the F5 used in the original cross.” So that’s cool.

I open the 1/4 bag and am ecstatic because this is so obviously a real deal Blue Dream that was grown to its best potential. I can tell right away – the perfection of its blueberry-tang pungence, its massive [very long] trichomes in abundance, hairs a darker orange/red, the buds a fairly light green and the white/tan coloured trichome does indeed give it a near blue-ish tint when compared to other strains. It’s pretty damn sticky too, I can squish and suspend a gram on the end of my finger for ~3 seconds. Super impressed before even smoking. I usually don’t mention pricing because everything here is cheaper-but-amazing but for $140 are you freaking kidding me? You gotta try this if you have not, put the other strains back on the shelf for now and get them next time because this time you have to try this. The only way you wouldn’t like this is if you wanted something with body sedation (I recommend Shishkaberry for that). Move over, Skookum!

EFFECT

I’m high tolerance and its potency is wAAAAy up there. It does feel like a 60-70% sativa, not much a sedation as much as a comforting wave of happy euphoria… and it’s strong [which is the relaxing part, I think], visually, cerebrally, emotionally not so much but it does very well grab you, gently but the high is very apparent and without being controlling. Excellent for day time use but I wouldn’t, say, go to work on it because it might just fog you up… I was so tempted to write “fogk you up” haha but for real it’s kind of hazy and unfocusing. It’s even a little zippy and energetic but not on the bullet-train side. One bowl hit me real quick, maybe 15-20 seconds later I was noting visual differences such as light is brighter and my vision projects a dreamy blurr+glow, not just a glow. Instead of a “stoned” feeling from an indica I got this exactly opposite/equally potent “feckin’ hazed” effect from this sativa-leaner. Leafly effects chart: happy followed closely by relaxed, lower is euphoric & uplifted in equal amount with creative tapering off. Happy, relaxed, euphoric, yup, yup and yup. If I had to wing an effects chart myself I would say it’s closer to euphoric-relaxed-happy-energetic-hungry. It can’t be just me who does this but when I feel energized from weed I always end up doing dishes while cooking, listening to music and hearing none of it over my voice in my head. Not quite clear headed, not quite unfocused, somewhere in the middle. I feel about 80% as high as I did 2 hours ago and I only had two bowls. It’s [barely] tapering off, without a burn out/tiredness but my brain power does feel it was tugged on. I don’t feel it pulling on my mood as much as forcing me into the dreamy cerebral. Some strains (IMO, Nuken) have the power to make you feel happier without reason and it’s from the inside via narcotic effect but this seems to do it from the outside via outright potency. I look at my grinder, then my cats, my grinder, my cats, then I give them like a quarter of cat nip and now we all float up here.

LOOKS

I don’t know if it’s the excitement of seeing it again but to me it looks “extreme”, reminding me exactly of its parent Blueberry in blue hues but with the darker touch of Haze colouring and it also takes the bud structure from Haze. Haze looks cool AF. BD feels soft, not too velvety, not too dry but as soon as you squeeze on a bigger bud it’ll become a brick wall.

SMELL

Smells like a blueberry-tang with some pungency. Sweet, lighter notes amid this very-obviously blueberry aroma that to me also smells a little like an old studious library, something a little weird but not unpleasant; it’s exactly how it’s supposed to smell. You’ll see what I mean once you smell it, it’s almost like smelling a new shoe box [that’s full of blueberries].

TASTE

I’m not the one to ask about taste because unless I cough in a weird way it just tastes like weed-smoke. The odd time I’m able to taste weed and it’s amazing. This is obvious but it should taste like it smells. If anything I taste the tangy sweetness over the blueberry. Not a dark taste, very light.

Big comfortable sparkly effect, smells great and smokes great. Large to medium-large buds. This 130/oz is a no brainer “budget” strain. It’s a little darker underneath than a “better” bud, showing some purpleyness but it seems to have more bunched and thicker crystals and a better cure for long-term than a more expensive Blue Dream. I’m assuming it’s just under AAAA because while it has a few leafs at the bottom of buds they don’t run away from the bud, they’re hardly noticeable and you’d have to flip the bud over to view them because they’re short and stuff without trimming, since it smokes & holds so easily it’s not an issue at all. It’s also like 10% stickier than an elmers glue stick and is probably the stickiest stuff I’ve had in 1-2 years so it’s extremely impressive in a 130-upwards of 180 range. I’ll probably buy this until it runs out too. I’m gonna give this my highest rating yet, a 7/5 0_0.
