LA Kush Cake

*not a review* but I do need to try this again! To me it’s another “designer strain” like Gelato.

To clear up some of the name confusion – remember it’s not LA Kush or LA Cake which are different, it’s LA Kush Cake AKA Pink Cookies or most well known as Wedding Cake. You’ll find differing information on each of these (LA Kush, LA Cake, LA Kush Cake, Pink Cookies AND Wedding Cake). Pink Cookies is a 50:50 apparently while Wedding Cake is a 70% indica. If they’re of the same parents why the differing information? Simply because they’re on separate pages or different sites under separate names and so they each get their own unique status but they all say basically the same thing – I’m sure it’s “peppery” and not just “vanilla/sweet”. I would recommend Leafly as having correct information, Cannasos screws up the indica-sativa ratio’s very often. I think this would come in at a 70% indica and not a 50:50 although I’ve had Wedding Cake before and it actually reminded me of Gelato which is a 55% indica so maybe I’m wrong. They each share similar parents related to Cookie Fam Genetics so your overall high profile will surely be happy/relaxed/euphoric either way. Effects should be extremely strong it being a quad+. Cookie Fam Genetics is taking the depression alleviation market by storm with these gorgeous phenotypes.

Received a sample, cleared it up: it’s a 50/50 hybrid with Pink Cookies indeed being the closest description.

I recommend this for PTSD, activity, travel, vets, beginners, appetite, day or night, for when you shouldn’t be high but need to be. For depression look at Ice Cream Cake instead. -.04 points for being a little harsh and we couldn’t figure out why, probably the trichomes and genetics.

WHICH COOKIE DO YOU WANT?

An analogy to tell you which of the 4 available Cookie Fam Genetics strains from WD you want (La Kush Cake, Ice Cream Cake, Gelato 33, Sunset Sherbert): A wedding is a perfect situational basis; if Ice Cream Cake is the wacky and lovable aunt who made the best speech but really only showed up to get hammered and have a good time only to later spill her drink on someone, fall and then sleep where she lay but then get back up in 2 hours to keep going than LA Kush Cake is the fun professional DJ who kept the night together amid the chaos – they weren’t allowed to drink but they had their own fun smoking weed. Both were big hits but comparably one stayed awake while having a shorter required time span to perform and the other went all out and gave it everything till dawn or until she’d nap again. The aunt was happier; the DJ more clear headed. To be continued…

I’m reviewing separately Ice Cream Cake, LA Kush Cake, Gelato 33 and Sunset Sherbert, all relating back to the famed GSC which Sunset Sherbert (aka Sherbert) is called the heir to the GSC throne by crossing GSC with Pink Panties, whatever that means, it’s like saying they’ve completely scrapped GSC for this Sunset Sherbert. I’m leaving 24 hours between strains and wake n baking these for full effect. I use an 18″ glass bong.

Its kin Ice Cream Cake I reviewed yesterday and it’s in the top 5 strongest I’ve ever had – including Shishkaberry, Master Kush, Cactus Breath and Blue Dream with special nod to Blueberry, AK47 and OG Kush, all packing some kind of unique wallop. Ice Cream Cake was probably the 1st, 2nd or 3rd dopest dope I’ve ever smoked – the only difference between these 5 strains isn’t outright potency, it’s a differing high profile altogether. All of them strap you to a rocket but the rocket goes differing places. Some are better than others at tackling depression, boredom, others better at tackling more emotional things like suicidal ideation or having too much on the mind. Whatever your high profile desires it’d probably be in this ^ list. Cookie Fam went straight for the hybrid and medical markets that has buds hovering around 60% or closer to 50% with either indica or sativa. I think they were unhappy with the idea that you have to have either one and not both in a balanced and designed feel, something of a hidden gem that nature didn’t intend.

GSC crossed with Cherry Pie and I believe it. There is speculation on this. A single person in Cali said “it’s actually Triangle Kush (OG Kush descendant) and Animal Mints (from Animal Cookies – a further GSC crossing)”, and suddenly that one guy screwed up the entire understanding of one lineage. Please, shut up, guy. It doesn’t even matter now since the cut of Wedding Cake is stabilized and if you haven’t worked for Cookie Fam then further shut up about it.

“Wedding Cake is a mix of Girl Scout Cookies (itself a quite sweet OG Kush and Durban Poison hybrid) and Cherry Pie (a giddy mix of Granddaddy Purple and Durban Poison), and so it’s got a whole lot of Durban Poison in it.”

It hits fast and hard, a very well balanced hybrid. Heavy but very clear headed high. No paranoia, no burn out.

I asked my girlfriend for her opinion on its high profile and she unconfidently nailed it with happy-euphoric-giggly-hungry-tingly and this directly points to Leafly’s Pink Cookies strain being the most accurate for this LA Kush Cake: “Wedding Cake” does NOT feel uplifting, we agree’d solidly on that, you’re welcome and thanks WD for already pointing that out. She further nails my description in that it doesn’t change “you” at all when after half an hour of smoking her bowl I turned to ask how she felt and she said “well, I’m reading a sad article, so I’m sad”, which is totally her, she’s a sun & moon Cancer and both are at the same degree.

Super stoned feeling in my eyes and head. Thoughts not changed at all. Mood not quite lifted but I feel better just because I’m real high. I feel like instead of a mood lift I have been taken out of myself and am now the observer looking at things I’d be doing anyways. I feel like a spy inside my own body, a little disconnected to thoughts themselves. I feel like if I suffered from over-thinking this is what I’d want 100%, it’s just too friendly to be scary and your high-self is equal to your sober-self. I feel relaxed, happy, mellowed, clear, not really anything else but a big, clear and hybrid high. This wrapped a “you’re stoned!” blanket around me. It’s not a happy-go-go-fun-time strain, it’s a “we’ve got shit to do but we need to also be high for it” type of strain. 1 bowl down, I’ll come back in an hour. It has worn off down to 65% and a second bowl brought me way back up, higher than I was now and then it wore off at the same rate again. After the first bowl I took a walk and this stuff was super easy going, no paranoia. It wasn’t overly present in any way but it didn’t allow me to think otherwise. This is a lot like GSC where it mellows and calms but there’s this heavier presence overall and with more an uncaring attitude, it feels a good bit more indica than GSC yet still retains its magic visual sparkle. The interesting effect of GSC was it created this “bubble” distortion effect that had a total upliftment but not with this Cake, it doesn’t cause upliftment but instead a somewhat-distanced euphoria that causes happiness through factors of comfortability, focus, confidence, being intoxicated in general, a little indica feeling. Again, it’s very clear headed. It’s something you’d love to travel with. It causes absolutely zero burn out. I like it more than GSC. This is slightly weaker than Ice Cream Cake because that strain sends you up hard & down hard while this is more linear and wears off quicker. Both have distinct uses between having your thoughts changed and not at all so this is pretty much just as “potent”, just different.

SMELL——————————————————————————

Stanky but not the stankiest. Sweet, citrus, earthy. Pretty tantalizing, a little different, nearly a diesel/chem smell but not. There is for sure both a vanilla and a pepper scent – both underlying. So checking both pages on Leafly for Wedding Cake and Pink Cookies basically yields the same damn thing. Someone else had mentioned – it’s not the best fragrance, it’s not the worst. I have to agree with that but it’s certainly nowhere near “worst”. After being ground up the smell is like 10X fold. It’s a sweet vanilla-mint rounded with what seems like diesel or chem but it buckles too fast to be up in that kind of snap-tang region. There’s also something else in the background that’s buttery like pecan. There’s even a tropical-like or fruity-like mid tone mixed in with some pine. It’s a hybrid city, it’s going to have a lot going on.

LOOKS—————————————————————————-

So similar to the other cookie line up but this has more-so red hairs that group together and then branch out like a mad scientists hair. Medium sized trichomes caked in and out. It’s pretty damn sticky, too – half gram on my finger tip holds for ~3 seconds while a bigger 0.75g bud held for an out-performance of all strains at a whopping ~11 seconds. Even as the bud was falling off it only fell off partly and tried to stay on using its tiny edge for another second and then it fell. This is stickiest weed I’ve ever tested for holding power but not the stickiest in outright feel/glue-ness. You could say this has a stronger-glue-but-less-of-it trait.

TASTE/BURN——————————————————————

Small hit to judge taste: alright, best tasting weed I’ve ever had. There’s something about it that’s like eating a handful of subtle assorted fruits that were soaked in a slightly more flavorful cream. After that I destroyed the rest of the bowl, it was hot and harsh. I don’t know what’s up, too big of a haul or something, I do use a smaller dab torch because it’ll make a bowl cherry in less than a second. Coughed for a straight 3 minutes. Now that I’m OK, I think it was just me hitting this super-cleaned bong hard with the torch. I mean, it’s smelly, it’s got lots of cake on it, it could’ve been the weed but it’s quad quality. I hoot a second bowl and it’s still harsh-ish but I cough for 10 seconds as normal.
